Since learning to sail in 1957 and acquiring a passion for yachts, thanks to the wonderful members of the Racine Yacht Club on Lake Michigan, James' activities have centered on yachting. Prior to entering the profession of yacht brokerage in 1992, James taught sailing, worked at the boat yards of Racine, and competitively raced sailing yachts. In 1980 James moved from Wisconsin to Southern California , by way of Key West and the British Virgin Islands. He then spent four years in the development and production of high-performance sailing yachts with Hobie Alter and Phil Edwards. In 1984 James established a yacht maintenance / repair and marine survey business, and in 1992 entered yacht brokerage in San Diego. Discovering the Internet in 1993 James seized the distinction of placing the first yacht brokerage ads on the Internet. In 2001 James combined a lifetime knowledge of yachts with his yacht brokerage acumen and Internet savvy to launch the YachtMinder Yacht Brokerage. Using his proprietary applications of Internet and cell phone technologies James established a very scalable business model that ensures a direct and consistent connection between prospective buyers and the listing agent for the yacht of interest. This greatly enhances the ability of YachtMinder agents to provide buyers and sellers with a superior level of personalized service. In 2005 James moved to Washington State, and resides in the wooded community of Indianola, located on the shore of Puget Sound's Miller Bay (near Bainbridge Island). With YachtMinder's advanced use of digital procedures James supervises all YachtMinder agents, reviews all sales agreements, and manages all YachtMinder financial and business activities from Indianola.
