This yacht is
believed to be the last
of eight that were built by McQueen Boat Works of B.C.,
Canada to this contemporary Ed Monk design. The
design features a large flybridge with boat deck and
davit, a raised pilothouse, full beam galley, large salon,
covered aft deck, built-in boarding stairs, a walk-though
engine room, and four staterooms.
The hull is constructed of Cedar & Mahogany planking
on closely spaced steam bent Oak frames set with numerous
stringers, bulkheads, and beams that allow elegant curves
in the bow sections that bring a raked stem to a very fine
entry at the waterline. The seams of the Cedar
planking above the waterline are wood splined to allow
smooth fairing for a nearly flawless surface.
The superbly balanced and crafted wood construction of the hull is
carried throughout the deckhouse structures, interior
bulkheads, and the extensive array of cabinets, counters,
and built-in casework. The elegant contemporary design
combined with superior construction
has produced a fine yacht
with an easily driven hull that runs on a naturally even
trim with a kindly sea motion.
These factors provide for an exceptional fuel economy
while running at a good turn of speed, and a surprising 10
gallons per hour while running at 10 knots.
In
addition to having all maintenance items professionally
addressed,
over the past
year
the owner has invested a considerable sum in recent equipment
upgrades and additions.
Over the past
two years the yacht
has successfully completed cruises from Seattle to Alaska,
Alaska to San Diego, San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, and Cabo
San Lucas to San Diego and Seattle. The owner has
completed his cruises with this yacht and is ready
to move on to other adventures. His decision to sell
is the next owner’s very good fortune for it is a
true rarity to find a yacht in this size and price range that
is as comfortable and good looking, as fuel efficient, or
to have such a great floor plan, and to be in excellent
condition.
McQueen Boat
Works has
a long and admired history of building fine
yachts. A very high level of carpentry talent is
found to have been applied throughout the construction of
this yacht's hull, superstructure, decking and the wide
array of built-in cabinets, doors, counters, drawers,
window frames, and various other custom built-in casework.
A close look throughout, from bilges to vanity cabinets
display the work of craftsmen at the top of their
profession.
If you are looking for a fine yacht that has always known
pride of ownership and the best of care, that is
reasonably priced, and can be safely handled by a family of
three or a couple with a deckhand, look no further your
search is over.
