A large aft cockpit offers an
aftermarket live-bait tank mounted between the two deck hatches.
The hatches provide access to a lot of storage space, and the
aft hatch that leads to the lazarette also gives direct access
to the steering gear and the standard fuel sight gauge. The
transom door opens inward, for added safety, and the raised and
slotted fiberglass swim step is roomy enough for safe gaffing
and cleaning.
Tinted glass spans much of the aft end of the deck house.
Instead of a sliding glass panel, the Riviera 43 has a 3 foot
wide hinged door that locks open or closed. This type of door is
generally safer in beam seas or when lying in a swell. To port
of the hot/cold sink console, there’s a top-loading cooler
behind the ladder to the flying bridge.
There are plenty of windows to
give the main saloon an open feel. There are two L-shaped
seating areas: a leather settee with under-seat storage adjacent
to a sculpted coffee table, and a dining area with higher
seating (plus, more storage) and an adjustable table. An
entertainment center is forward above the dinette, and the
electrical panel is handy on the starboard side.
Two steps down to port is the teak-soled galley. An L-shaped
Granicoat countertop has an attractively sculpted sink and drain
board. A two-burner cook top takes a minimal amount of surface
space, and the microwave is beneath the counter – safer than
above the shoulders.
With a two-stateroom layout, the boat sleeps four people
comfortably and offers two complete heads instead of one. The
forward master stateroom has an island double berth, plenty of
built-in storage and an attached head with a roomy enclosed
shower stall and vanity storage. The smaller guest
stateroom (with two twin berths) is amidships. The smaller guest
head also opens to the forward companionway. |
