REMARKS:
Nonsuch was designed on the premise
of simplicity, a catboat shape and a catboat rig, with an
un-stayed mast stepped at the bow. The Nonsuch has one sail, one
sheet, and one halyard. And is easily sailed by one person from
the security of a large, dry cockpit. With space for voluminous
accommodations below this catboat design is long on the
waterline for speed and wide for stability.
Over 1,000 Nonsuch sailboats have been built, mostly during the
eighties. They were built by Hinterhoeller Yachts. It is
generally conceded that George Hinterhoeller built the best
production sailboats in North America. These sturdy, powerfully
built catboats have crossed many oceans and are appreciated
today as boats that hold their value, are easy to maintain and
fun to sail.
